John Gayle

Executive Director

John Gayle is driven by a passion to “cultivate Christian growth in the younger generation… by creating a hospitable environment which invites believers to think, and thinkers to believe.” Drawing on decades of ministry, teaching, and academic training—including an M.Div. from Covenant Theological Seminary and an M.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia—he has taught theology, biblical studies, worldview, and philosophy at The Covenant School since 2015. His experience spans seminary instruction, classical education, pastoral ministry, and leadership roles with Young Life, where he managed staff teams, volunteers, and a substantial regional budget. Fluent in multiple biblical languages and active in church leadership, John has also invested deeply in community life through hosting international students and serving as an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

John has moved to Wilmington from Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife, Anna. They have three children: Sam (18), John (21), and Hannah Grace (24). We are grateful to welcome the Gayle family to Wilmington and look forward to the gifts, wisdom, and experience John will bring to this next season of the Center’s ministry.
